Description
A limited edition enamel pin for the 2024 Ballarat Tweed Ride.
This year’s pin features a tweed rider in front of the Ballarat Town Hall in autumn, framed on a postage stamp marked Ballaarat. This is the old spelling of our town name, which has gradually changed over time to drop the double A. The original spelling is from the combination of two indigenous words which are the name for the area: balla arat. The term means ‘resting place’ and is the resting place of Bunjil, the creator. Because our event keeps us looking at where we have come from, we had to make sure the original spelling of the city featured in this year’s pin.
The pin design was illustrated by ride founder Liana Emmerson from her own photos.
